Why botanicals?
From the valleys of the Tetons to the wild landscapes of Alaska, this journey has been about discovering what nature has to offer—and finding thoughtful ways to bring a little of that beauty into everyday life. It began with memories of picking wildflowers with my grandmother and grew with the passion of gardening in memory of my father. These beautiful botanicals were always there, but who knew they had so much more to offer.
During a recent trip to Alaska, my son Mack introduced me to a solid lotion soap he had purchased there. It was made with Lavender, Fireweed, Cocoa Butter, and Hemp Oil. I immediately loved the aroma and, once it melted into my skin, the luxurious moisturizing feel, but I couldn’t help but notice it took a bit of time to warm enough in my hands before the lotion was easily useable.
My son Mack has always struggled with eczema and psoriasis and told me that this was one of the few products he had found that made his skin feel better. His experience made me curious. I began looking around at the abundance of plants that had been familiar to me since childhood—Fireweed, Clover, Yarrow, and other herbs with long histories of traditional use. I decided to find a better solution and better-quality product that would melt easier. That’s where Mountain Botanicals started, with some solid lotion and infused oils.
One experiment led to another.
Soon I was creating lip balms, body oils, luxury bath salts, and sugar scrubs. As my studies continued, I discovered the fascinating world of perfumery and began learning how different essential oils could be carefully blended and balanced to create beautiful, memorable aromas. Different botanical blends could heal different ailments. My daughter (Esthetician) and I have worked side by side creating the best solutions, mixtures and remedies for all the needs we could think of. The Journey continues and we continue to learn. I'm excited to share these creations with friends, family, and customers who, like me, appreciate beautifully crafted, naturally inspired products for caring for their skin.
